3 Yoga Exercises For Healthy Eyes

Eyes are an integral organ of our human body. Without them, living life will be too hard. Still, they are one of the most neglected parts when it comes to taking care of our bodies. Most of us worry about getting fat, dull skin, dry hair, untoned legs, etc. but we rarely worry about having healthy eyes.

One of the major reasons for this is because we do not feel any immediate signs or symptoms of eye weakness. Therefore, we don’t often pay much attention to the health of our eyes. Almost two-thirds of our wakeful hours are spent in gazing at the computer screens and smartphones. This causes immense stress on our eyes. Taking care of your eyes is important to ensure that they work properly. Strained and tired eyes often make you feel low on energy and you’ll find it difficult to concentrate on things around.

To make sure that your eyes remain healthy there are multiple things that you can do which includes-

  • Eating a Vitamin A rich diet

  • Reducing our screen time

  • Exercising for eyes

Today we will discuss such 3 easy exercises that you can do regularly for the health of your eyes. These are super simple exercises that anyone can do. You can do them anywhere and at any suitable time of the day.

1. Blinking

2. Rotation

3. Palming

Blinking - As the name suggests blinking is a very easy exercise. It helps our eye muscles relax when they get strained because of too much focus on something. Our eyes often do this involuntarily when it feels the need but sometimes when we concentrate on something deeply we often stop ourselves from blinking.

To do this exercise open your eyes wide and blink continuously for 10 seconds straight. Then close your eyes for the next 20 seconds. Repeat this exercise four times. This will give your eyes much-needed nourishment and prevent the problem of dry eyes that most of us face today.

Rotation - Rotation helps you to stretch your eye muscles. All you need to do is to move your eyes from left to right and vice-versa as much as you can without moving your neck and face. Make sure that you only move your eyes. Repeat this exercise for upward and downward motions as well. Try to go as extreme as you can without straining too much on your eyes. Do this exercise 20 times.

Palming - Palming is a common exercise that you might be familiar with if you have gone to some yoga class. Palming is a great way to relax your eyes. All you have to do is to rub your palms together till the time they feel warm. Now place these palms on your eyes to transfer this warmth to your eyes. Focus on something and relax. Give your eyes time to absorb that energy. It will make you feel more rejuvenated.

Taking care of your eyes is not rocket science. If we all spare just a few minutes from our schedule to help relax our eyes, it can result in better productivity in the long run. These exercises can benefit you in numerous ways such as better vision, increased concentration, and even spiritual insights. So, make it a habit to include these exercises in your day-to-day routine for maximum benefits.
